Job description

As our Construction Project Manager you will manage all the different contracts related to the mechanical permanent works to be realized by Framatome on the Hinkley Point C Construction Site. This represents all the preliminary survey works, as well as the preparation, introduction into the reactor building and installation of all the major components of the Reactor Coolant Primary Circuit. You will be permanently interfacing between the Sub contractors and the Client.

The successful candidate will be the Framatome point of contact with the client for any security issue or challenges that may arise, reporting to the Framatome Site Manager.

Our scope includes the production activities of both nuclear steam supply systems, from their design and procurement, to their commissioning, all of which will be under the responsibility of Framatome. That will also be the case for the execution and supply of the NPP’s operational and safety instrumentation and control system.

With the Hinkley Point C project, Framatome participates in one of the major industrial projects of the coming decade. EDF Energy is building the first new nuclear power station in the UK for a generation at Hinkley Point in Somerset. The two Hinkley Point C EPR reactors will provide reliable, low-carbon electricity that will meet approximately 7% of the UK’s electricity needs. Framatome has been awarded several sub-contracts for the construction of 2 EPR by NNB on the Hinkley Point site.

    This role is based in the Hinckley Point C, Bridgwater UK and ideally would suit someone living close to the site.


    Main responsibilities will include:

  • To achieve zero harm on all mechanical activities related to the permanent works;
  • To identify in advance the interfaces and support the establishment of a reliable level 4 planning for each sub contractor;
  • To manage the review of the site documentation produced by the sub contractors;
  • To manage the permit to works;
  • To support technical issues solving and lead the discussions between the Contractors and the Client;
  • To manage contractual issues with the Client with the support of the contractual Team;
  • To identify all the additional works and liaise with the Commercial team;
  • To recruit and manage a team of supervisors in the field;
  • To perform all activities related to the role of a blackhat non working supervisor as per NNB standard;
  • To be part of the Site core team and attend relevant meetings;
  • To manage your own budget;
  • To participate to the elaboration of the yearly master plan and maintain it for the topics he is in charge of;
  • To prepare the mechanical construction works reporting;
  • To elaborate and maintain the visual management for the mechanical construction works;
  • As a “Black Hat” (non-working supervisor), to manage all Health & Safety aspects of sub-contractor’s activities on site (Risk Assessments/Point of Work Risk Assessments review, Tool Box Talks, on site supervision) and ensure that Health & Safety and Sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to;
  • To perform gamba walks;
  • Planning level 4 up to date;
  • To attend regular planning update meetings between the Client and the Contractor.
  • Essential Criteria:

  • CCNSG or CITB;
  • NECS (Nuclear construction engineering supervisor) or CILM equivalent in Civils;
  • SSSTS or IOSH managing safely;
  • 10 years supervision experience on a construction site;
  • 2 years Experience in Construction project management (civils or mechanical);
  • Minimum 5 years experience at HPC site in supervising activities (black hat);
  • CDM regulation requirements for a construction site;
  • HPC way training for supervisors;
  • Qualified for permits to work management at HPC site;
  • Team Management;
  • Planning management.
  • Desirable Criteria:

  • HPC site organization;
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge;
  • Contract management;

    For this role we are offering a salary range of between £55,000 and £65,000 per annum plus benefits, including, but not limited to:
