Présentation générale de l’école :

L’ESTP Paris est une Grande École d’Ingénieurs qui forme sur plusieurs sites en France des cadres dans le domaine de la construction et de l’aménagement du cadre de vie. Leader dans son secteur pour la formation, elle ambitionne de faire croître ses activités de recherche pour devenir un acteur incontournable de la construction. Dans cet objectif, elle a créé au sein de ses campus l’Institut de Recherche en Constructibilité, qui porte les valeurs de l’ESTP Paris –  Engagement, Solidarité, Transmission, Performance – dans un esprit d’innovation et de service aux entreprises. Afin d’accomplir son rôle d’accompagnement des transformations du secteur, l’IRC se structure en plusieurs équipes de recherche pour développer des connaissances dans les nouvelles technologies appliquées à la construction, initier et former à la recherche par la recherche les élèves ingénieurs. L’IRC regroupe aujourd’hui une cinquantaine de membres, enseignants-chercheurs, doctorants, personnels administratifs et techniques, et a pour ambition de tripler en 4 ans ses capacités de recherche pour devenir le centre d’excellence du secteur.

About ESTP:

ESTP Paris is a renowned engineering school with several campuses across France. It trains students for manager position in construction and urban planning. The educational leader in its sector, ESTP wishes to step up its research activity so as to become a key actor in the field of construction. To this end, it has established on its campuses the Constructubility Research Institute (CRI). CRI aims is driven by the values of ESTP to foster innovation and provide solutions to the business sector. In order to fulfil its role of facilitating sector transformations, CRI is divided into several research teams aiming to develop knowledge in the field of new technology and to initiate and train student engineers for research through research. CRI currently has some 50 members (teacher-researchers, PhD students and technical and administrative staff) and plans over the next four years to triple its research capacity so as to become the sector’s leading centre of excellence.

Contexte :

L’équipe de Recherche « Systèmes électriques et transition énergétique pour la construction » est l’une des 8 équipes de l’IRC en création. Son activité s’inscrit dans le thème de recherche du campus de Cachan : la recherche et le développement de systèmes innovants de construction. La thématique de cette équipe est centrée sur l’étude de la performance des systèmes électriques et énergétiques multi-échelles : des systèmes et stratégies de construction et de gestion intelligente des ouvrages face à la transition énergétique, des solutions d’optimisation de la performance globale du bâtiment dans son environnement, mais également le développement des infrastructures et réseaux intelligents d’énergie dans les villes rentrent dans le périmètre de cette équipe.

L’équipe sera composée à terme d’une trentaine de membres, 10/15 permanents, enseignants-chercheurs, personnel administratif et technique, ainsi que 10/15 doctorants. A sa création, elle regroupe 2 groupes d’enseignants-chercheurs possédant des expertises en génie électrique, électronique, énergétique et physique du bâtiment. L’équipe et ses infrastructures pourront se développer en fonction des projets envisagés.

Le/La responsable d’équipe aura une large autonomie tant sur les aspects thématiques que scientifiques et aura pour mission le développement d’activités de recherche partenariale, l’identification et la structuration de nouveaux projets et le management de l’équipe pour répondre aux besoins de recherche et d’innovation du secteur de la construction.

Dans le cadre de son plan de développement, le Groupe ESTP Paris recherche, pour son campus de Cachan, un(e) Responsable de l’équipe « Systèmes électriques et transition énergétique pour la construction » au sein de l’Institut de Recherche en Constructibilité (IRC).

Rattachement hiérarchique :

Rattaché(e) à la Direction de la Recherche de l’école et membre du comité de pilotage de l’Institut de Recherche en Constructibilité, le/la Responsable de l’équipe dirige les activités de recherche de son équipe en cohérence avec la stratégie de l’école, de l’IRC et les autres équipes de recherche.

Missions principales :

• Déployer la stratégie de recherche et d’innovation de l’école et de l’IRC au sein de son équipe ;
• Définir et suivre la feuille de route projet de l’équipe en adéquation avec la feuille de route de l’IRC ;
• Développer et pérenniser les activités de recherche et d’innovation de son équipe ;
• Identifier les besoins en ressources humaines et recruter les personnels de l’équipe ;
• Assurer l’encadrement des Enseignants-Chercheurs (dont certains HDR), Ingénieurs de Recherche, responsables de projets et responsables de chaire de son équipe en s’assurant de la progression du niveau d’expertise ;
• Développer les relations avec la communauté scientifique et les partenaires en s’appuyant sur les experts présents au sein des équipes ;
• Initier, participer et piloter des projets de recherche élaborés avec les partenaires industriels et académiques ;
• Initier et participer aux appels à projets nationaux et européens ;
• S’impliquer dans la valorisation des activités de recherche de l’équipe (brevets, publications scientifiques et technologiques, etc.) ;
• Participer à la définition et à l’exploitation des plateformes technologique de recherche ;
• Coordonner les activités d’enseignement de son équipe en réponse aux besoins de la direction des études ;
• Participer ponctuellement à l’enseignement dans ses domaines de compétences.

Background :

The Electrical Systems and Energy Transition for Construction research team is one of the eight teams of the expanding CRI. Its activity relates to the Cachan campus’s field of research: innovative construction systems research and development. The team will focus on the study of the performance of multiscale electrical and energy systems; its subjects include construction and smart-management systems and strategies for building projects, so as to address the energy transition; solutions to optimise the overall performance of buildings in their environment; and the development of smart infrastructures and energy networks in towns and cities.

The team will ultimately be composed of some 30 members: 10 -15 permanents staff members, teacher-researchers, administrative and technical staff, and 10 -15 PhD students. It will initially be made up of two groups of teacher-researchers with expertise in electrical engineering, electronics, and building energetics and physics. The team, and its infrastructure, will be able to expand according to the projects undertaken.

The team leader will have a great deal of autonomy, both in terms of thematic choices and scientific aspects. He or she will be in charge of developing partner research activities, identifying and structuring new projects, and managing the team so as to meet the research and innovation needs of the construction sector.

Reports to:

The post-holder will report to ESTP’s Research Directorate and will be a member of the Constructability Research Institute’s Steering Committee. He or she will lead his/her team’s research activities, in line with the strategy of ESTP, the CRI and the other research teams.

Main duties:

• Implement the ESTP’s and CRI’s research and innovation strategy within the team;
• Draw up and monitor the team’s project roadmap in line with the CRI’s roadmap;
• Develop and ensure the long-term durability of the team’s research and innovation activities;
• Identify human resources needs and recruit personnel for the team;
• Manage the team’s teacher-researchers (including HDR – state-accredited-to-supervise – researchers), research engineers, project managers and heads of department, ensuring progression in their level of expertise;
• Build relations with the scientific community and other partners, with the assistance of experts in the CRI’s teams;
• Set up, take part in and lead research projects in collaboration with academic and industrial partners;
• Launch and participate in national and European calls for projects;
• Play a role in promoting the team’s research activities (patents, scientific and technological publications etc.);
• Help to set up and operate technological research platforms;
• Coordinate the team’s teaching activities in line with the needs of the Directorate of Studies;
• Occasionally teach in one’s areas of competence.

Profil recherché :

Formation/Expérience :

• Formation : Ingénieur ou équivalent suivi d’un doctorat et HDR en génie électrique appliqué au génie civil ou énergétique du bâtiment ;
• Expérience de 10 années minimum en entreprise à un poste de responsable R&D ou académique avec un sens managérial fort souhaitant s’impliquer dans la construction d’une équipe de recherche. Expérience de plusieurs années du pilotage et montage de projets d’envergure.

• Connaissances requises dans l’un ou plusieurs domaines suivants : Génie électrique, smart grid, efficacité énergétique, physique du bâtiment, modélisation énergétique et thermique.

Compétences requises :

• Leadership, organisation, rigueur, capacités d’interactions avec les partenaires internes et externes, esprit d’innovation, force de proposition ;
• Pilotage de projet et management d’équipe scientifique ;
• Aisance à l’oral et rédactionnelle en français et anglais.

Localisation : CACHAN (94), quelques déplacements sont à prévoir au niveau national, notamment sur nos sites distants (PARIS, TROYES, DIJON).

Statut : Cadre – Forfait jours.

Dates : Poste à pouvoir dès que possible.

Qualifications/experience:

• Qualifications: engineering degree, or equivalent, followed by a PhD and HDR (research-supervision accreditation) in electrical engineering applied to civil engineering or building energetics;
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the business sector, as an R&D manager or academic research manager, with strong managerial skills and a wish to be involved in building a research team; several years’ experience in setting up and leading large-scale projects.

Required knowledge:

• Knowledge of one or more of the following areas is required: electrical engineering, smart grids, energy efficiency, building physics, energy modelling and thermal modelling.

Required skills:

• Leadership, organisation, rigour, ability to lie use with internal and external partners, innovative mindset, initiative;
• Ability to lead projects and manage a scientific team;
• Written and spoken fluency in French and English.

Location: Cachan (French departement 94); some travel within France, particularly to ESTP’s other sites (Paris, Troyes, Dijon).

Contract type: Senior position; contract stipulates number of working days rather than hours (forfait jours)

Remuneration: According to experience

Benefits: 13 months of pay per annum; lunch vouchers.
